As the “innovation hub” at New England Wire, our R&D department is focused on tailoring our products to meet specific industry needs, ensuring optimal performance and reliability, while improving manufacturing processes to boost efficiency and reduce costs.
In 2017 we first developed our Research and Development Application Lab. This first phase included the acquisition of a a fully instrumented 1-inch extruder, automated Autoclave system for 24/7 testing, and a full complement of analytical tools for identifying and characterizing materials. Many of these capabilities and tools can be viewed in our Materials Analysis Testing lab video. These capabilities have allowed us to develop new products, provide data for continuous improvement activities, and rapidly assess raw material discrepancies.
But our technology development is not limited to just materials. There are market drivers pushing technologies to deliver solutions that are smaller, lighter, with tighter electrical performance, all while meeting more challenging application environments. Â Because of the growing number of requests for fine wire solutions, we have expanded the R&D Application Lab to include advanced manufacturing equipment and tools. This vertically integrated lab is researching new methods for extruding sub-mil wall insulations, processing conductors smaller than 46 AWG, exploring new shielding and taping techniques, and investing in new electrical testing tools for fine, ultra fine, and micro cable constructions.
At New England Wire Technologies, our Research and Development team continues to work hard to foster new capabilities for moving our customer’s ideas from concept to reality.
