Recovery Friendly Workplaces: Promoting Individual Wellness
On June 14, 2023 New England Wire Technologies received a signed designation letter from New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu, officially making us a Recovery Friendly Workplace. The initiative challenges the stigma that has been set forth for those who are in active recovery, striving to create a system that helps both the employers and employees to create an environment that is beneficial for everyone. This mindset allows those who are seeking help to do so without the fear of judgement, humiliation, or rejection.
The Recovery Friendly Workplace Initiative was launched in 2018. Since the beginning of this initiative, almost 400 business in New Hampshire have elected to adopt this new mindset. Research shows that some of the benefits workplaces have received across New Hampshire are higher productivity, less absenteeism, a greater community connection, a decreased turnover rate, improved morale, and many other benefits.
The initiative provides employers with free resources, trainings, and the support they need to help their employees in a time of crisis for both substance misuse and mental health disorders while linking employees seeking help with immediate local resources.

Enhancements in Manufacturing: A Closer Look at Upgrades and Expansions
In today’s fast-paced manufacturing industry, staying ahead of the curve is essential for businesses to remain competitive. By investing in new equipment, expanding facilities, and improving communication systems, companies can enhance their production capabilities and deliver superior quality products. Let’s explore some of the recent developments at New England Wire Technologies, highlighting improvements in cabling and extrusion, finite testing, infrastructure, machine shop upgrades, the incorporation of new equipment in our Littleton facility, as well as the planned Lisbon facility expansion.
To bolster our manufacturing capabilities, we have recently added additional equipment, resulting in improved capacity in cabling and extrusion processes. These enhancements allow us to efficiently meet growing demands and increase production volumes. By expanding our equipment lineup, we can provide our customers with high-quality cables and extruded components promptly.
We recognize the importance of rigorous testing to ensure the reliability and performance of our products. With a specific focus on coaxes and thin mil walls, we have invested in advanced testing equipment to enhance our finite testing capabilities. These improvements enable us to carry out comprehensive assessments and quality checks, ensuring that our cables meet and exceed industry standards.
To improve efficiency and productivity, we have implemented a more sophisticated infrastructure and enhanced communication systems between machines and our Manufacturing Execution System (MES). This integration allows for seamless data exchange, real-time monitoring, and efficient coordination between various manufacturing processes. The upgraded infrastructure enables us to streamline operations, minimize downtime, and ensure accurate tracking of production metrics.
Our commitment to continuous improvement extends to our machine shop as well where we have implemented various upgrades and optimizations to enhance our ability to customize and fabricate both our manufacturing equipment and tooling. These improvements enable us to deliver precision components with shorter lead times while maintaining the highest quality standards.
We are excited to announce the introduction of new equipment into our Littleton, NH facility. This expansion marks the beginning of cell manufacturing in that space, allowing us to further streamline our production processes. The incorporation of new equipment will enhance our overall manufacturing efficiency, reduce cycle times, and enable us to meet the evolving needs of our customers more effectively.
And finally, as part of our commitment to growth and innovation, we are currently in the design phase of a significant expansion project at our Lisbon, NH facility. The addition of a 37,000 square foot space is underway and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2024. This expansion will provide us with additional room to accommodate new machinery, streamline operations, and further optimize our production processes. By expanding our facilities, we are positioning ourselves to meet future market demands and better serve our customers. You can learn more about this project here.
As a forward-thinking manufacturing company, New England Wire Technologies constantly strives to enhance our manufacturing capabilities and deliver exceptional products to our customers – a true reflection of our dedication to innovation, quality, and overall customer satisfaction for the past 125 years.
Celebrating 125 Years of Custom Cable Solutions
In December of 1898, in Cherew, SC, New England Wire (then known as New England Electrical Works) was incorporated. Just a few months later, the business was moved to Lisbon, NH and the manufacture of single and double silk wrapped copper wire (an early form of today’s film insulated magnet wire) began in support of the manufacture of magnetic solenoid coils necessary to ring the bells in old-fashioned crank telephones.
Since those first, early days New England Wire has been proud to have developed some of the most innovative capabilities and wire and cable products in the industry. From Litz wire to superconductor cabling, and copper cables and braids to extruded micro-miniature multi-conductor cables, our place in the world of custom cable manufacturing has continued to grow and expand to support the latest technologies of every decade.
The 30 employees that started with us in 1898 have now grown to over 425! And the original 2-story building next to the railroad tracks is just part of our expansive campus where we now have over 385,000 square feet of manufacturing and office space – with plans to expand an additional 38,000 sq. feet in 2023. We remain happily located here in Lisbon, NH where we enjoy the beauty and peaceful lifestyle our little community offers while designing and manufacturing the most advanced wire and cable solutions in the industry.
