A braid is an interwoven structure made from metallic or textile filaments to form a tubular, flexible structure which may exist on its own, be applied over one or more conductors, or be flattened to form a strap. Metallic braids are commonly used as shielding to reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI), while textile braids can provide additional mechanical protection and flexibility.
